Summary: Qadam collects only the information necessary to run the app. We do not sell your personal data. Your step data, family data, and contact details are stored securely on Google Firebase and are accessible only to you and your family group. You can request deletion of all your data at any time.

1. Who We Are

Qadam ("we", "our", or "us") is a family fitness mobile application operated from India. The app is available on Android (Google Play Store) and iOS (Apple App Store). For any privacy-related questions, you may contact us at vahdevelopment@gmail.com.

2. Information We Collect

a) Information You Provide

  • Name: Display name used within your family group.
  • Email Address: Used for account creation and authentication via Google Sign-In or direct email login.
  • Phone Number: Optional. Used as an alternative login method and for account recovery.
  • Date of Birth: Used to personalise step goals and age-appropriate activity targets.
  • Profile Photo: Optional. Shown within your family group only.

b) Information Generated by Your Use of the App

  • Daily Step Count: The number of steps you walk each day, sourced from your phone's built-in step counter (pedometer sensor).
  • Activity Logs: Date-wise records of your step counts, used for streak tracking and leaderboard display.
  • Family Group Data: Information about the family group you belong to, including the group name, member list, join date, and weekly step summaries.
  • Reward & Coupon Status: Records of monthly coupon eligibility, claimed status, and coupon codes issued to your family.

c) Technical Information

  • Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version, collected automatically for bug diagnosis and compatibility.
  • Firebase Analytics Data: Anonymised app usage events (e.g., screen visits, button taps) collected by Google Firebase Analytics to help us understand how users interact with the app.
  • Crash Reports: Automatic crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics, which include device state at the time of a crash but no personally identifiable information.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your Qadam account.
  • To display your step count and leaderboard ranking to members of your family group.
  • To calculate monthly reward eligibility and issue grocery coupon codes to qualifying families.
  • To send in-app notifications, including nudges from family members, reward alerts, and system notifications.
  • To diagnose and fix technical issues and improve app performance.
  • To communicate important updates about the app or this Privacy Policy.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. Your information is shared only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Within Your Family Group: Your display name, profile photo, and daily step count are visible to all members of your family group.
  • Google Firebase (Google LLC): We use Firebase for authentication, database storage (Firestore), analytics, cloud messaging (FCM), and crash reporting. Data is processed in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. Firebase stores data on Google's secure servers.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or in response to a valid request by a government authority.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Anonymised, aggregated analytics data (which cannot identify you) may be retained indefinitely.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable and appropriate security measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These include:

  • Secure HTTPS transmission for all app-to-server communication.
  • Firebase Security Rules that restrict access to your data to only authorised users.
  • Firebase Authentication for secure login and session management.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

Qadam is designed to be used by entire families, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent. Children under 13 should only use Qadam under the supervision of a parent or guardian who is the Family Head of the group.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us at vahdevelopment@gmail.com and we will promptly delete that information.

8. Your Rights

As a user of Qadam, you have the following rights with respect to your data:

  • Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: You may update your name, phone number, and email within the app's Profile settings.
  • Deletion: You may delete your account and all associated data via the in-app Settings → Delete Account option. We will process the deletion within 30 days.
  • Withdrawal of Consent: You may revoke app permissions (e.g., step counter access) through your device's Settings at any time. This will limit certain app functionality.

9. Third-Party Links

The Qadam app and website may contain links to third-party websites or services (e.g., grocery store websites). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Effective Date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via an in-app notice. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically. Your continued use of the app after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.

11. Applicable Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011. Any disputes arising out of or related to this Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Mumbai, India.
